Listening is the Geo-Locator of the Heart...

Yesterday I was honored to sit with a patient and family. 
As an Interfaith hospice chaplain, my mere presence there was an acknowledgement of "What is" and their willingness to face the next thing, in the next moment. In a 40 year chain of love and connection, they wanted to show up  in the same way as they had all their lives.  In their case that was with creativity, rationality, and openness.

Aging is both fulfillment and deterioration. It's a lot.  Interfaith is all the ways human beings have found in these changes to express the meaning, purpose and connectedness about the sacred and the significant, as we know it to be. 

We see by the light of what does NOT change.

We all need a little help - especially in the trenches.  That is my job – to help.  It mostly looks like listening and reflecting back what is said with love.  This is the magic mirror of being present with another human being. 

It is the geo-locator of who we are, where we are now and with a bit of time... it finds our next right step.
